How much does social media management cost in South Africa?
Published South African price guides put monthly social media packages anywhere from about R2,000 to more than R30,000, depending on how many posts, how many platforms, and whether ads and replying to comments are included. BluBerri is R3,500 or R7,500 a month for seven finished pieces and motion reels every week, or a custom plan from R15,000. We make the content and, on R7,500, post it. We don't reply to comments or messages or run ads, so compare us with content and posting packages, not full community management.
What does BluBerri cost?
R3,500 a month for seven pieces and one motion reel a week, and you post. R7,500 a month for seven pieces, two motion reels and one talking-head edit a week, with a weekly filming prompt, and we post it all for you. Custom plans start from R15,000 a month.
What's included?
On both plans, every week: seven pieces (feed posts and carousels with captions, and daily stories with a note on which sticker to add) and motion reels, one a week on R3,500 and two on R7,500. The R7,500 plan adds a talking-head edit and a filming prompt from our content strategist every week, and we post it all for you. Everything is made from your photos, products and place, in your brand, and delivered every week in a shared folder with a WhatsApp when it's in.
Who posts?
On R3,500, you do: every piece and reel arrives ready to post, with its caption. On R7,500, we post your week to your accounts on schedule, so there's nothing for you to upload. On a custom plan, we agree it with you.
How does the Custom plan work?
It's for businesses that need more than a weekly feed: more pieces and reels a week, a website, or ad creative. Tell us on WhatsApp what you need and we'll quote it. Custom plans start from R15,000 a month.
How does that compare with a freelancer, a junior hire or an agency?
A freelancer usually costs about R3,000 to R8,000 a month, often charged per post or per hour, so the bill moves with every request. A junior marketer costs about R15,000 to R25,000 a month in salary. An agency retainer usually runs from R25,000 to R50,000 a month, plus weeks of onboarding before anything goes out. BluBerri is a fixed R3,500 or R7,500 a month for a finished week, every week.
Which channels?
Feed posts go to Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn. Daily stories go to Instagram Stories, Facebook Stories and WhatsApp Status. LinkedIn has no stories. Reels also fit TikTok and YouTube Shorts.
Who owns the content?
You do. Once a month is paid for, everything delivered in it is yours, for social, ads, your website or print.
Reels and talking heads
How do motion reels and talking heads work?
Motion reels are short vertical videos cut from your week's pieces: one a week on R3,500, two on R7,500. For the talking head, our content strategist sends you a filming prompt every week. You record yourself on your phone, send us the video, and it comes back cut, captioned and ready to post.
When do I send my talking-head video?
By Wednesday each week. A video that reaches us by Wednesday is edited for your next weekly delivery. One that arrives later moves to the delivery after that.
Paying
Can I pay upfront?
Yes, on the R3,500 plan. Pay 3 months upfront and your talking-head edit is included for those 3 months. Ask us on WhatsApp and we'll send an invoice for the three months.
Is there a contract?
No lock-in. Cancel any time by emailing hello@bluberripress.com from your account address. It takes effect at the end of the month you've paid for.
How do I pay?
Online sign-ups pay by card or EFT through PayFast. Clients can also pay by EFT on invoice.
Is VAT included?
No VAT is added today. If BluBerri becomes VAT-registered, it shows as a separate line on your invoice.
